He is Risen!

Since Sawyer missed sitting on Santa's lap at Christmas, I was jumping at the opportunity to take him to see the Easter Bunny.

Mimi and I decked him out in his bunny outfit, complete with bunny ears, and headed to Mall of Georgia.  We joined the million two other children in line and waited our turn.  Sawyer was not sure what to think of the Easter Bunny, but he snuggled right in this year.  I'm not sure we'll be so lucky next year.
On Saturday night, I dressed Sawyer in his super-cute Easter leggings, and we ventured to Mimi and P-Paw's house for Sawyer's first Easter basket.  Daddy is not very fond of his leggings, but I know that I can only get away with them for the next year or two, so I'm taking advantage of it.

Mimi and P-Paw spoiled our little man with a super-cute Easter bucket filled with goodies - a bathing suit, sunglasses, a hat, formula, gas drops, a book, and (much to my sadness) 8 - 10 oz bottles.  I'm still in disbelief that he's ready to give up his 4 oz bottles.

Since I have an addiction to Zulily right now, Sawyer had yet another outfit for Easter morning.  We headed to the annual Easter lunch at Gigi and PawPaw's.  This is an extra special lunch because it involves ALL the Clowers and Mimi and P-Paw are invited, too.

Sawyer was very overwhelmed by everyone who came to see him.  His sensitive little soul just couldn't handle all the attention, so he spent most of the day sleeping. However, he did wake up for some cousin time with Ladybug.  She loves him so much, and I love to see them together.

Then, Sawyer Daddy and I partcipated in the egg hunt.  Sawyer scored a few dollars and some yummy candy for me!

Before we left, Gigi and PawPaw gave Sawyer ANOTHER Easter basket full of goodies - bathing suits, bubbles, books, and a teething ring.

Our little man was tuckered out by the end of the day, but he loved celebrating our Risen Savior!

Two Months

Dear Sawyer,

I want to memorize every little detail of life right now.  You are such a sweet little thing, and I don't want to forget what any part of this feels like....even the sleepless nights.

I want to etch in my mind the way you curl your baby fingers around your bottle in an attempt to get your food faster.  I smile thinking of how you poke out your bottom lip right before you're about to cry.  I love the way you kick your tiny feet in the bath water at night.  I wish I knew what you were thinking when you take your saucer-round eyes and look back and forth; soaking up all the world around you.

Everything is new to you right now.  You're so interested in every sight and sound. You love for me to walk around with you.  You're still fighting sleep because you're afraid you're going to miss something.
Recently, you've started "talking", and your daddy and I could be entertained for hours listening to you.  It's the best sound in the world to me right now.  Well, that, and the sound of your heavy breathing when you're deep asleep.
I'm back at work now, and you're still waking up every three hours to eat.  I'm tired, but I also know that you won't be waking up like this forever.  It seems like only yesterday that I was worried we were going to sleep on the couch for the rest of your life, but you transitioned to your room, and life keeps going.

You're still trying to find your thumb.  I don't think you're going to be much of a "pappy" person. You spit it out with disgust just about every time I offer it to you.  I think you will be much happier when you finally do find that thumb for good.
You enjoy "dancing" with your daddy in the afternoons.  You think it's funny when Maci jumps on people. Your best friends are the monkeys hanging from your bouncy seat.  You will smile and laugh at them for a good while.

I just can't believe you're mine. All 10 pounds 11 ounces of you. God has blessed me greatly.

Love,
Mommy

I'll Shout it From the Rooftops

I would shout the news of Sawyer's arrival from the rooftops. But, that might be tacky. Plus, I had already picked out some cute announcement cards before he was born, so that's the route I decided to take.

It was really difficult to limit myself to five pictures for this card, but I think they turned out pretty adorable. I'm only a little biased.

I'll Eat You Up, I Love You So

I attempted to read Where the Wild Things Are with Sawyer the other night.  We only made it to the point where Max was sent to bed without dinner, but I know we'll make it to the end some day.

Until then, I'm content with staring at his sweet face and stealing all the smooches.  I tell him every day, "I'll eat you up, I love you so!"  I'm sure he thinks I'm crazy.

So, when I received our pictures from our newborn session with Maureen Atwood Photography, this was the sentence that came to mind. Seriously, I would eat him up if I could.  I just can't get enough.

My Lucky Charm

Sawyer celebrated his first St. Patrick's Day in style.  Mimi adorned him with yet another cute outfit for the occasion.  We decided to take a cue from Aunt Jackie and Cousin Leighton with a short photo sesh.  He really is my lucky charm.

Check out the new thigh rolls. I die!

Of course, since Georgia weather is crazy, it was a bit too cold to actually stay in short sleeves, so I found another green outfit.  I call him "My St. Patrick's Day Monster!"  This monster obliged me with another photo sesh and even gave some sweet smiles.

Since we were on the floor anyway, this mean mommy insisted on some tummy time.  Big sister decided to join in on the fun and nuzzled right down next to Sawyer.

Sawyer decided eating his hand was a good way to pass the time. Who needs strong neck muscles anyway?

One Month

Dear Sawyer,

You are one month old now.  I'm amazed at how fast and slow the past four weeks have gone.  I know that sounds crazy, but the first week home seems like a lifetime ago and yesterday all at the same time.  You are changing so much every day. You weigh 8 pounds 8 ounces, and you are now 21 inches long.
You love your hands.  In fact, you hate to be swaddled because you love having your hands at your face.  When I'm feeding you, I have to move those stubborn hands out of the way - sometimes you try to suck the bottle and your hand at the same time.

Those hands.

You got caught sucking your thumb.
You love to lay on your changing pad.  You look up at the shelf above it and stare like it's the best thing you've ever seen.  And as long as we lay you there and don't try to change you, you're fine.
You prefer not to take baths.  I hope that changes one day.  I try to sing to you while I wash, but you're really not having any of it.  You especially hate when it's time to get out of the bath.  I must be the meanest mommy in the whole world since I still insist on bathing you nightly and rubbing lavender lotion all over your little body. It makes you smell delicious.
Your personality is already starting to shine through, and your Daddy and I can tell you are going to be a stubborn little thing. You already know what you want, and what you don't want, and you are sure to let us know very quickly.  I love when you purse your lips together and refuse to take your pacifier, or how you spit your bottle out when you finished.
Your signature look.

That gas is funny stuff.
You have a wonderful set of lungs that you love to exercise daily. That's a nice way of saying that you cry...a lot.  Your Dad and I have come up with many different ways to try and soothe you, but, secretly, I love when I scoop you up and you immediately stop crying.  When you do finally fall asleep, I love the way you smack your lips through your dreams.

Daddy's getting the hang of this.
Crying or not, I can't stop staring at you.  I'm amused by the way your wrinkle your forehead when you're trying to figure something out.  I'm pretty certain you have the most handsome face I've ever seen...even when it's red with anger.

Tummy time is not your favorite activity.
I'm not always sure if I'm doing this mommy thing the right way, but I hope you always know how much joy you bring me.

Love,
Mommy

My Funny Valentine

Our little booger was very alert for his first Valentine's Day.  Both Gigi and Mimi showed Sawyer some love with new outfits for the occasion.  You can never have too many Valentine's Day outfits in my opinion anyway, and this sweet boy has more than enough love to go around.
